In 2003, he received the first Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, an international prize for children's literature established by the Swedish government.

One of the First Books Illustrated by Maurice Sendak

The story is charming and the illustrations are equally so. In fact I was attracted to this book by the animated and charming pig peeking over the fence on the back cover.
Your children will enjoy this book and the child in you will love this as well.

Nice book

I read this book when I was a child and wanted to read it again. Unfortunately, this edition does not cover all the chapters of the original book. Some parts are mising and it was not mentioned on the description. I had known that this version is incomplete, I would have not bought this book.

First of all, when you got to the "about the author" section, keep in mind, this book is ILLUSTRATED by Sendak, but WRITTEN by Marcel Aym�. I read these stories when I was learning French, and as an adult, I absolutely loved them. There is an aspect that children will love, which is to say, that the animals only talk to the two girls, not to the adults. This makes the stories special for children. The animal community is well represented by both good and bad animals, and their interactions will give lots of parents things to talk about with their children. Unfortunately, my favorite of his stories is not included in this collection. This will only inspire you to learn French and read them all!
