I felt like this book was just ok. It was actually very depressing. The town was depressing, family that doesn't act like family, the thing with the sister, the thing with the brother. I didn't dislike Mercy, but I didn't love her either. Her character just didn't stand out. I don't know how to explain it. Not standoffish but something. I guess it's because of the way she was raised. I can understand that, but I still didn't like it or warm up to her. Unfortunately, there was no loving in this book except a couple of little kisses.

The thing with Levi made no sense to me. He seemed bright so his secret seemed ridiculous.

The stuff with Rose was hard to take and it was way too much!!! Good grief it was WAY too much. Grrr, it's hard writing this without spoilers but the story seem to fall apart during this time because of the Levi issue. It just didn't make sense that there are things that he knows, yet waits hours to say anything.

Anyway I didn't care for it. I will probably give the next book a try just because I usually love this author's books. Right now I feel like I need to go read something to get myself out of this depressing mood.

FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick has gone back to her hometown of Eagles Nest to investigate the murder of 3 survivalists and the theft of their weapons caches. She left home when she was 18, estranged from her prepped family, and has never been back. . Mercy is working with local police chief Truman Daly. One of the murder victims was Trumans Uncle. Evidence at the current crime scenes possibly connects to the murder of 2 teens before Mercy left town.

This is the start of a new stories and it is a great beginning. The plot is great and keeps you in suspense all the way thru the book. There is an great cast of characters, some will hopefully be featured in future books in the series. There is some romance in the book but it mostly a suspense novel. The book is set in a small town and the author gives you a glimpse of what life is like living in a small town. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

A mystery develops...into something laughable

The author was doing fine, introducing her characters and their backgrounds and developing a decent whodunit. Then all her main characters, including cops and FBI agents (for pete's sake) developed stomach issues and weak knees every time something even vaguely surprising or threatening occurred. From the halfway point on virtually every chapter had someone with "knees turned to jello" or instant acid reflux of some sort. That, combined with the bodice ripping style of writing about the increasing romantic involvement of the two main characters, made for an unintentionally humorous ending.

Maleficarum

The Darkstalkers' storyline takes a very interesting transformation and focuses on the events of Jedah revealing himself during a fight between Morrigan Aensland and Demitri. As the story progresses, some of the other fighters are introduced, including Lilith and Talbain, and how they are connected to Morrigan. This is volume one, so the story ends with a skirmish between Talbain and Morrigan. I am looking foreward to volume two in order to follow a new spin on one of my favorite game series.

Red Earth begins with the revelation of what has become of the former king Leo, cursed with the form of a lion and stripped of his honor and kingdom. His former wise men try to lift his curse so he can fight the forces that destroyed his lands and people. They succeed in returning his mind and most of his body. Leo discovers from the dying wise men what has happened and begins his journey to right the wrongs caused by a mysterious dark force.
Lady Tessa, a very prominent witch knows of the events in surrounding countries and decides to venture out and discover the truth of it all, believing the wars and confusion is being caused by one malicious superpower. She begins her journey, much to the dismay of her two animal assistants.
A young warrior, Mai-ling returns to her village only to find it destroyed. While looking for survivors, she is attacked by a harpy who she believes is responsible for the condition of her former village. After their confrontation, Mai-Ling decides to journey out to find the reason for all the suffering that is being caused all around.
A ninja, unnamed in this volume is also aware of the massive tragedies occuring in the surrounding lands and decides to discover the origins of the disturbances he senses.

This combination of fantase generas is quite intriguing. I purchased it in hopes that it would be all about the Darkstalkers games. I am quite pleased to be wrong, for I have been introduced to a very interesting mesh of magic, fighting, mystery, and fantasy. I would recomend this book and series to anyone who dreams of fighting monsters with various means, anyone who thinks, "What if my favorite fantasy game were real," and anyone who wants an interesting fantasy to follow.

It was not what I was expecting...

The shipment was fast and the product was in perfect condition. The story seemed to lean more on the story of Red Earth rather than the Darkstalkers. The artwork was splendid and accurate to the original drawings of the Darkstalkers. I really only character I recognized Tessa from Red Earth because she was in an old Playstation fighting game, "Pocket Fighter". I would possibly get the 2nd volume of this series but overall, I was not too impressed.

Excellent artwork

And decent Red Earth (Warzard) story, this book can be easily divided between the Darkstalkers and the Red Earth stories, only the Red Earth ones being a continuing narrative while the Darkstalkers act more like small single chapter vignettes. I only wish that the Red Earth storyline was longer since the final chapters move at such a quick pace as opposed to the earlier ones.

Regarding the Darkstalkers portion my main complaint is that it contradicts a previous set of stories (different author), however I guess that is just because of the ambiguity in the video game. The self contained stories are decent and filled with excellent artwork and signature attacks.

I really wish the author would have done more Darkstalkers stuff, it really beats the crap out of the Udon materials.

The most important health book of the past 50 years.

After suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME) for 14 years, I was freed from this degenerative disease by ozone treatments along with acupressure and other Asian methods. Years of treatment by modern medicine did nothing for me except to make my symptoms a little easier to live with, while at the same time the medications played havoc with the chemical balance of my body.The ozone was the key to the success of the whole process because it killed the pathogenic mycoplasma that causes CFS in the first place without further damaging an already weakened body. As Ed McCabe writes in this magnificent book on page 57:
"Almost every virus, bacteria, fungi, mycoplasm, parasite, and other pathogen found in all diseases, including HIV, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, chronic fatigue, epstein-barr, candida, and every other disease you can name are the same as all the other primitive life forms. They are facultative anaerobes. 'Anaerobic' simply means they cannot live in oxygen. These disease bugs simple cannot live in active oxygen."
I have also learned from reading this book that I can clean the air in my house using ozone, that I can drink ozonated water, that I can wash my food with ozonated water, along with many other uses that are mentioned in the book. I am on my way to being healthy again and now after reading this book I will have the tools to be healthy for the rest of my life. Flood Your Body with Oxygen

A great sequel to his first book, giving updated information on research and oxygen products. Explains why reactive oxygen is the cornerstone of health. Oxygen, peroxide and ozone are not patentable, so you won't see any comercials on TV to ask your doctor. Perhaps most revealing is the fact that ozone insuffilations are as effective as intravenous ozone at prurifying the body. With all the craze over trans-dermal applications, I am surprised that he omitted Dr. Kahn's peroxide solution: 1 oz food-grade hydrogen peroxide, 7 oz organic, whole-leaf aloe vera gel, 1 oz DMSO mixed together in a spray bottle and applied topically after showering.

This book can keep you alive

Ed's new book is a fantastic collection of beneficial information on how to get healthy and stay that way. Beginning with a discussion of food and just why our diet serves not only to invite disease into our body but guarantee it a permanent home, Ed introduces us to a fascinating, simple to understand explanation of just why we need this oxygen stuff anyway.
Like his previous books, there is so much good, practical information contained here that you will quite possibly be overwhelmed at first but KEEP reading ! I think every one needs to know why nearly every dis-ease condition you have or will get can be traced back to a depleted oxygen condition in YOUR body.
Next, you learn about the numerous ways to increase your oxygen level as well as the advantages to each approach and how to go about getting as much oxygen as you need.
To someone unfamiliar with this topic, I would like to provide an easy example: I was speaking with a nurse who had worked in a cancer center for over a decade. I asked her if she agreed that Hydrogen Peroxide was a good choice to dis-infect a cut and she replied "Of course." I then asked her what was the active ingredient in the Hydrogen Peroxide that disinfected the wound?
She was stumped then shocked when I replied . . "An extra molecule of Oxygen bonded to water. . . H2O2."
What else can you expect from this book? Aids, Cancer, and so many other diseases have been cured with correctly administered Oxygen Therapies. . . First class sections on airplanes get better air than economy class by a factor of about 8 to 1 ! Medical Ozone and air pollution are not the same thing.
There is so much more to say but why hear it from me when you can get the information first hand from the guy who has literally been walking the walk and talking the talk for going on 20 years.
This is one book you will never forget.

First published in 1995, I Am Because We Are has been recognized as a major, canon-defining anthology and adopted as a text in a wide variety of college and university courses. Bringing together writings by prominent black thinkers from Africa, the Caribbean, and North America, Fred Lee Hord and Jonathan Scott Lee made the case for a tradition of "relational humanism" distinct from the philosophical preoccupations of the West.

In this revised and expanded edition, Hord and Lee build on the strengths of the earlier anthology while enriching the selection of readings to bring the text into the twenty-first century. In a new introduction, the editors reflect on the key arguments of the book's central thesis, refining them in light of more recent philosophical discourse. This edition includes important new readings by Kwame Gyekye, Oy�r�nk� Oyew�m�, Paget Henry, Sylvia Wynter, Toni Morrison, Charles Mills, and Tommy Curry, as well as extensive suggestions for further reading.
