This is a good, light read for preteens (also younger or older, depending on the level). In this fantasy, Murphy expects life to work by Murphy's law. About the Author
F. L. Karsner is a fifth generation Floridian who grew up in a rural Panhandle village near Tallahassee. In the late 60's, she married a Navy Ensign and followed him from Florida to the South Pacific. It was in the Navy that she first experienced different lands, peoples, and cultures all of which would forever influence her view of the world. On returning to Florida, she and her husband raised two daughters. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, became a Registered Nurse, and began to pursue her love of the art and science of medicine. The care of cardiac patients took her from the nursing floor to the cardiac catheterization laboratory to clinical research, ultimately becoming a Certified Clinical Research Professional. To maintain her interest in the arts, she painted, created pottery, and sang in the Sweet Adelines as she moved from Florida to Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and finally back to the Sunshine State. At the millennium, she was President of her own consulting company which provided clinical research services to the domestic and international pharmaceutical markets. Today, she lives with her husband on the Intracoastal Waterway in Ponte Vedra Beach surrounded by the marsh, two rivers, a resident eagle, and untold hawks, egrets, raccoons and slithery friends. Engaging from page one!

An engaging novel from the very first page. F.L. Karsner's ability to have the reader connect with the characters on several layers is part of the charm of this book. The characters are well developed, the plot is engaging and the story moves at a fast pace, all which make the reader want to know what happens next. A real page turner. The protagonist's strenth of character, indepdendence, and nursing skills lend a reality to the book. Then, the element of magic makes it even more exciting. I'd suggest that fans of Scottish heritage or fans of magical realism read this novel because the novel brings to life the unique wonders of the Highlands, its special scents, and scenery. Further, it gives you a glimpse of the admirable traits that are so prevalent in the Scottish folk from early times to the present.

A strong vein of morality at the heart of this storyline, it’s a reminder to show compassion to one another including our friends in the animal kingdom. Once I picked the book up I couldn’t put it down.

Excellent tale of characters' adventures and challenges through every imaginable hurdle one can imagine. Healer's Magick is just that. . . . MAGIC!!!
The story moves quickly and you cannot wait to pick up the book next time to see what is now going on. Great attention to detail but not so much that it bogs down. . . the pace continues throughout all the way to the end. Can't wait for Karsner's next book to see what happens to these colorful characters full of life, courage and charity.

About the Author
About the Author Marietta S. Millet is an associate professor of Architecture at the University of Washington in Seattle. She has lectured widely, has been a visiting professor at several schools, and has also held the Frederick Charles Baker Distinguished Chair in Lighting in the Department of Architecture at the University of Oregon. She is a partner in Loveland/Millet Lighting Consultants. Ms. Millet holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has received numerous awards for her work.

Thought-Provoking and Inspiring

This is a dense and throughtful book that deftly combines theory and practice.

This is in not "architecture porn." The text is the engine here and the illustrations, well...they illustrate the ideas being put forward. The ideas grappled with center around the timeless principles of how light affects architecture -- specifically how light affects experience, how light reveals form, how light shapes space, and even "light revealing meaning." (I raised my eyebrow at that last one, but after considering the book's examples of theatrical light, festive light, contemplative light, and divine light, I got on board!)

Most welcome are four focused sections of the book that consider, for 7 to 12 pages, the interaction between light and architecture of a single building. My favorite of these is Aalto's Mount Angel Abbey Library.

Book nitty-gritty: glossy pictorial boards with a sewn binding; 181 pp. Released without dustjacket. Something like 350 illustrations, most of them in color: mostly color photos with floorplans, elevations, and some sketches. Indexed. Bibliographic and (some) narrative End Notes.

does everything right

This book is great. Nearly everything about it is clear, concise, informative, and inspiring.

The format is worth mentioning because the author does everything right. Each chapter is dedicated to a single principle of lighting design, and is immediately followed by a case study that beautifully illustrates that same principle. Also, whenever the text mentions a particular building or room - there is always a lovely and appropriate photograph of that very same room or building RIGHT ON THE VERY SAME PAGE. This is a rare example of a well-concieved and thoughtfully executed book on architecture.

Any spatial experience is intimately connected with the experience of light. The author has very articulately described this phenomena in architecture, using four major themes - where light helps with a physiological EXPERIENCE, gives a building FORM, defines and enhances SPACE, and thus gives it MEANING.

This is an excellent book, well written and has a good association with all aspects of lighting, studied and explained with the help of a wide range of buildings and architecture. It makes a very strong (and convincing) argument, for all designers to pay attention to the importance of light while planning and designing their spaces or buildings.

La verdad es que es un recorrido f�cil, ameno y pr�ctico hacia nuestro interior. A trav�s de se�ales que el autor va facilitando poco a poco, preguntas claves y experiencias de gente real llegas a tener una visi�n clara de cu�l es el color y la ruta trazada en tu mapa…o en tu vida. Al autor enhorabuena por su lenguaje y la forma tan original de narraci�n, me encant�! La recomiendo al 100%

Me encanta el concepto de "haza�as" y "anti-haza�as"!

Por fin un buen libro de auto-ayuda en espa�ol ( la mayoria de ellos son tan pesados!). Este es differente. Me encanta como est� escrito- es como hablar con el autor y hacer un poco de "brainstorming" con el.
Me encanta la frase: "vamos, pero vamos audarnos uno a otro!". El autor comparte muchas historias personales de su vida y tambi�n comenta otras historias de sus amigos o familiares. Todo este te hace parar y pensar un poco de tu propia vida. Es un gran libro para momentos de reflexi�n y meditaci�n. Parece que vas hablando con el mismo autor! genial!
Es muy f�cil de leer. Espa�ol es mi tercer idioma y normalmente leo en ingl�s (la mayoria de libros de auto-ayuda en espa�ol faltan de acci�n y les encuentro un poco "bla bla bla" y "poco acci�n" , para mi, los autores de habla inglesa suelen ser m�s practicos, en general, claro, creo que son las diferencias culturals). Pero, este libro ha cumplido mis expectativas 200% y no dudo en recomendarte lo a ti:) Lo recomiendo tanto como coach como persona tipo buscador que soy....Lo voy a leer otra vez...!

Romances without happy endings? Wrong!

Warning, this series contains romances without happy endings! In Monkey Wrench the give you a lovable main supporting character, and kill her off at the end of the book. I stopped reading it then.
Don't get me wrong, the writing in the series is good. Most of the concepts I read were good, but. I do not read romances to have characters I care about die! Sorry, it is not a romance series worthy of the genre.

I was so very excited to get this series. I was given this by my mother back in the early 1990's , an acquaintance borrowed it and NEVER returned it! So much fun to reconnect with the characters!! Loved every book!
